Bowling, Baby Names, and What I'm Reading :-)
It's been a while. I owe you lots of updates about lots of things...but anything with a picture will have to wait until Sunday. I am back to work and it seems like all I want to do when work is done for the day is take a bath and fall asleep. I had nine days off work at a stretch, which was lovely, let me tell you. I wish I could have that kind of time off more often! James and I got to spend the week together, which accounts for how quiet I have been here. Even the most mundane things are a little better when he's around. :-)
James and I have been doing all sorts of things. We even went bowling the other day. Let me tell you something -- I do not like bowling. I don't like the weird smell of the now-nonsmoking bowling alley (you can still smell the smoke!), plus I am plain bad at it. But James loves it. So the other day we went and I decided I was going to have a good attitude about it and we both had a great time. I just wanted to share how a change of attitude about something little blessed my marriage. Bowling is still not my favorite though.
The jury is out on baby names for our little boy. James and I were finally able to agree (without much nagging on my part) that having a "junior" probably wouldn't be the most fun. James' family calls him Jimmy, and he went by Jim when he was working in car sales, so that's not exactly the best memory for him. Jamie is out of the question (sorry Melissa, I liked it!) but I did suggest it. So there's really not a lot to call the baby other than "Junior" if we were to go with James' name. So we are trying to settle on something else. So far Lucas/Luke has come up a couple of times. Other than that we are both kind of drawing a blank.
I don't think I have blogged a whole lot about what it is like to be pregnant. It's weird because there is no other way to describe it! One of my coworkers was telling me about her maternity leave experience and said "I was just so pregnant..." and that is how I feel. Especially when I didn't feel that great in my first trimester and all I wanted to do was sleep and eat pizza pockets from the supermarket deli. I had my fair share of them for sure! Now it's a little bit better and I am less tired, but I hear that fades, which is just too bad. :-P But some days when I am tired and grumpy and hungry all I can think is "I'm so pregnant!"
Lately Kindle has been my friend in delivering all the books I can't wait to read. A friend suggested I read Babywise, and after getting pretty horrified by the comments on Amazon I decided to order it anyway. I have been reading it on my Kindle app, and I can see where (when used with grace) that it could be a good system for helping baby sleep after he is born. I am very anxious about this since my sister's son Riley still isn't sleeping all the way through the night and he is eighteen months old. I am also working on starting Catching Fire in the Hunger Games series...I just haven't had the time to read it yet. Now that a movie is coming out, I can't say that it doesn't increase motivation for me. :-)
More updates this weekend ladies. This time with pictures! :-)
